Lactation Rooms Locations

The following Lactation Rooms are available for WVU faculty, staff, and students. WVU is in the process of creating permanent Lactation Rooms that will be available across campus for nursing mom’s to express milk. Many of these dedicated Lactation Rooms are in buildings under renovation.

Please find the list of dedicated Lactation Rooms and the network of individuals whom a nursing mom may contact directly, to request the use of their private space to pump. The faculty, staff, or student needs to provide her own pump and accessories as well as a small cooler or insulated bag for milk storage. Room amenities are listed on the page.

Breastfeeding has important health benefits for both mother and child. Women who nurse are less likely to contract breast and ovarian cancer. It is the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) position that “breastfeeding ensures the best possible health as well as developmental and psychosocial outcomes.” For example, breastfed children are less likely to get sick, allergies, diabetes, many childhood cancers, and SIDS. It is not surprising that women who continue to breastfeed after returning to work, compared with women who do not breastfeed, miss less time because of baby-related illnesses and have shorter absences when they do miss work. Working mothers who continue nursing also have higher morale. Breastfeeding is frequently best for moms, children, and organizations.

Please look for the breastfeeding symbol on nursing-friendly spaces around campus! Please refer to the GroupWise System Address Book or directory.wvu.edu for phone numbers or email addresses.
