New Measure of Consensus

What is it?

A group, including members of the ADVANCE team, have been working to develop an analytic tool for analyzing group consensus around an issue. This tool uses survey questions to determine the degree of agreement between group members.

Why do it?

This analytic tool is a new way to measure and explore group dynamics. Researchers commonly compare groups based on their average responses. The novelty of this tool is that it allows researchers to compare levels of consensus across different groups and survey questions despite differences in group means.

Why it is important?

This measure allows researchers interested in organizational change to have a more nuanced understanding of group dynamics.

How to do it

The project team has created a website that will allow other researchers to calculate consensus within their own data. Read the Information Sciences Article.
