Change Agent Course

LEADING CHANGE

The ADVANCE Change Agent course prepares academics and professional staff to be social justice leaders who will ignite institutional change.

With the goal of achieving 21st Century leadership capacity, this course will help participants identify, analyze, and address patterns of inequity and propose, implement, and evaluate responsive interventions.

The course is open to faculty, administrative leaders, and program staff.

PARTICIPANT SELECTION

Participant selection is based on the applicant's:

  • description of the relevance of the course to their current role,
  • ability and commitment to complete all aspects of the course, (including attending and participating in all in-person/synchronous class meetings)
  • course space limitations.

EARNING THE ADVANCEING ACTION CHANGE AGENT BADGE

As a course participant, you are also eligible to earn a WVU Badge if you complete all coursework criteria.Requirements include:

  • Course participants must successfully complete all reading, writing, and discussion-related class assignments as outlined in the course syllabus and evaluated by course instructors.
  • Course participants must attend all in person/synchronous class meetings. If an emergency prevents exemplary attendance, course participants may work with course instructors to make up what was missed.

COURSE FORMAT

The course will be offered in person at a designated campus location or online via synchronous class meetings. There are five standard class meetings organized by the five components of our guiding course framework:

  • Problem Awareness
  • Problem-Analysis
  • Problem-Solving Action
  • Accountability
  • Sustainability

In between class meetings, course participants complete assigned readings, view pertinent media clips, and engage in interactive discussions within our course learning forum.
