In the upcoming academic year, Ms. Leah Oldham will work at West Virginia University in the WVU ADVANCE Center/Office of the Provost as a Graduate Service Assistant. Ms. Leah Oldham is an advanced doctoral candidate in sociology at West Virginia University, with a graduate certificate in Women's and Gender Studies. Her degree will be awarded in May 2025. Through published refereed journal articles and book reviews, Leah has contributed to a rich social scientific understanding of crime in sport, violence against women, and social control. She has consistently published and collaborated on academic research in criminology, social identity, and politics. Her published work has appeared in the International Journal of Sport Communication, Journal of Cultural Analysis and Social Change and the Sociology of Sport. She is a co-author (with Drs. Walter DeKeseredy and Martin Schwartz) on a book titled Violence Against Women in Sport: Research, Theory and Policy. Her research agenda also includes at least three papers or projects in progress, apart from her dissertation.
