Part I: Understanding Mentoring and Mentor Development

October 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or October 21 from 1 to 3 p.m.

What the Best Mentors Know and Practice

This session underscores the importance of mentorship in student success and explores the mutual responsibilities of mentors and mentees—whether one-on-one or in small groups. New this year, we will also examine how AI tools can be used constructively and strategically to strengthen mentoring outcomes.

Part II: Effective Mentoring Models

October 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or October 28 from 1 – 3 p.m.

Selecting & Sustaining the Best Fit for Your Unit

This session focuses on mentoring at the program level. We will review four models, including Power Mentoring, an innovative approach that is scalable, strategic, and supportive—and especially useful in departments with limited mentoring capacity. Participants will also consider how to adapt and combine elements of these models to meet the unique needs of their units or departments.
