Subir Kole

Subir Kole is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at West Virginia University. During the 2025-26 academic year, Subir will serve as a Graduate Service Assistant at the WVU ADVANCE Center. Previously, Subir was a Graduate Research Fellow at the East-West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii (2004-2012), and later served as Chair of the Executive Board of the East-West Center Association, Honolulu, Hawaii (2018-2024).

A demographer trained in feminist theories, public policy, and international relations, Subir has extensive experience managing research and evaluation portfolios for large-scale population, health, and nutrition programs in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. His research has been published in Globalization & Health, BMC Pregnancy & Childbirth, Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change, Asian Politics & Policy, and Maternal & Child Nutrition. Subir currently serves as one of the Guest Editors of the academic journal Maternal & Child Nutrition (Wiley, ISSN 1740-8709), overseeing a Special Issue that documents key lessons from a decade of USAID’s interventions to improve maternal and child nutrition in Nepal.
